NYC Things

Just a couple miles away from me, the US Open has been going on. I don’t really follow tennis, but I feel like I should go one of these years because it just so close! It seems like it could be a lot of fun just wandering the grounds and watching random tennis matches, as long as its not too hot. My parents just came in with their friends for a couple days to watch some of it and they had a lot of fun.

The US Open is just one of many things that I see here and say “I should do that one of these days”. There are tons of art exhibits, street fairs, festivals, concerts, plays, musicals and other things always happening in NYC that I have been missing out on over the past year. Now that my girlfriend has just moved over here with me (yay!), I feel like now it the perfect time to go out and adventure a little. I’m not really the adventurous type, but I do want to go out and see what’s going on.

I know that I may spend a little too much time sitting in front of a computer or TV (or PSP), so going out a little bit definitely can’t hurt. One thing that is definitely on my list, DigitalLife! Still not getting away from technology though, am I =P

Hey, remember that one time, at Digital Life, when I sat next to Fatal1ty and didn't even know it? You know, he was a surprisingly snappy dresser for a gamer (no offense to you gamers, but he WAS sporting a velvet blazer after all lol).

    • Matt says:

Velvet is most definitely not snappy.

That's like wearing black socks to the gym, it just doesn't work.

        Velvet blazer

That looks a lot better than what most gamers wear at these competitions. If you disagree though, then I guess we won't be seeing you in a velvet blazer anytime soon eh? =)

For black socks though, what if you wear all black clothes with them? Roger Federer wears black everything and he's arguably the best tennis player in the world. We all have a lot to learn about the power of the black sock.

My bosses are there at US Open with the clients now.

How I wish I was there.

Went these past two years. Awesome place to be, The best part is walking around, and at the end of the match getting an autograph, they always give an autograph. Highly recommended.

Oh man, you totally posted this on my birthday. That is so cool. I got Super Paper Mario, which is like holy crap. It's so good.

    Very Zen indeed.

After all, all things are impermanent.

I'm sure showing kindness to the spider in this life will make his, and your, next Samsaric rebirth much better.

    Oops. I'm showing off.

  7. Mr. Viking says:

It's pointless to go to the US Open once Maria Sharapova has been eliminated. She's absolutely gorgeous!

The cool thing about real life is how high the resolution/quality is. Everything looks so life-like!

I've gone to the open these past two years…..countless stories about slipping one of the gaurds money to get court-side seats from the nosebleeds. It's great fun, you should definitely go.

  9. Che Guevara says:

hahahaha i think that is bribery!!!

And Pat i think you and me are quite possible the buddist favoring people hear so maybe some explanations is needed….

or we can still hear and gloat in our own smartness!!!!

  10. Che Guevara says:

woops Buddhism god there goes my gloating…. lol it lasted hmmmm a minute too

  11. Patrick says:

Hmm…perhaps you're right. Here's the bread and butter of my earlier post:

    1. Buddhists believe that all things are without an unchanging, constant self or permanent entity, so the spiderweb Zen is capitalizing on that idea (very well, might I add).

    2. Umm…Samsara is quite complicated, so let's just say that the spider will be born as a better creature, as will Drew, since they practiced kindness.

Alrighty then. I'll try not to explain others' comics on their own board anymore.

I know exactly what you mean. I lived in Wimbledon for years, without even going close to the tennis court! I saw it by mistake once, because the taxi took a different route.
