Eight years ago, a lady in North Carolina decided that January 21st is Squirrel Appreciation Day, so hey, that’s a thing.  When I heard of the holiday, I assumed it was an internet invention with a murky origin, like the Darwin Awards or Canada, but there actually seems to be a consensus on this one.

The question remains: why should we be appreciating squirrels if all they do is burn everything down with their bodies?  Oh you didn’t know that happened? You didn’t know that was a thing squirrels did?  Apparently you weren’t paying attention.
