Convenient

So there is this porn shop two doors over from my office in NYC, which is a couple blocks from Times Square.  I have to pass this store every morning.  Yesterday, I spotted a pretty sign in the window.

Looks like I’ll need to start going a couple blocks down the street to get my prostitutes now.

    Noooo! I think I actually walked by that place whenever I visited NYC a couple years ago. It was awesome.

    in Australia where i live, the high down the road from me if were all the prostitutes hang, and there is a bus stop sign they dance on…

      I don't know what else you could mean, to be honest. I wanted to misinterpret it to be funny, but a jack the ripper sort of comment sounded a bit tasteless. Then again…

    Did you notice it mention three things you could be punished with and then said "OR BOTH". Which which two of the three are they talking about?! I'm suffering torment here.

      I think it said only two things: "by a fine of up to (some number I can't read) or by imprisonment of up to three days or both." Either a fine, or imprisonment of up to three days. But yeah, the "of" really looked like an "or" at that resolution, so I can see how it looked like three things.

      What I was confused about was that it said "The following activity is prohibited: use and occupancy." which is two activities, and then they added another one ("prostitution") without any "and" or "or" before it. That's way weird grammar, or weird logic, or something.

        I think they're two different ideas. The order is saying that taking anything from the store, as well as use and occupancy are forbidden under this order. And then prostitution is the reason for the order.

      "Upon conviction" isn't a punishment, it's just saying that someone can't be punished until he's convicted. The two possible punishments are a fine and jail time. I could see how the phrasing of the sentence would be confusing though.

      Hopefully this alleviates your suffering :)
