Billy Mays Died =(

I found out about it after I got my haircut around 1PM today.  It’s extra sad for me because I just saw the guy 2 weeks ago and he was totally fine.  He was a really nice guy and I honestly felt like I knew the guy after meeting him.  On top of that, I may have been part of one of the last groups of people to do a meet and greet with him.

It’s strange, but I’m definitely more affected by his death than the death of Michael Jackson.  Michael Jackson was obviously the bigger star, but man, I just saw Billy Mays 2 weeks ago.  It makes death that much more real as opposed to just reading a headline on CNN.

  2. Asher says:

I'd never met him, and it still made me sadder than Michael Jackson.

    Billy Mays will be missed.

I went to the site today just to see if you had posted something. I honest to goodness felt like I had lost an uncle when I heard the news. An uncle with an immaculate beard.

You're a good man, Billy Mays.

The news of Billy Mays' death hit me harder than the news of Michael Jackson's death too. :C

When I heard about Billy's death a few minutes ago the first thing I thought was "hey didn't Justin from LHT post something about Billy Mays a few weeks ago?" I went strait to the site spread the bad news, but then I found then I saw justin's post. Ironic isn't it?

Good bye Billy Mays you will be missed.

Man I bet that pilot feels bad; he screwed up a landing and someone died because of it.

    • Never liked MJ' says:

Weird. That's exactly what I did.

I just learned today. I had a really hard time believing it. I mean, he was like the new Chuck Norris. Jebus beware and all that shit.

Then I thought "Hey, but I know (over the internet) someone who just saw him. Holy cow on a stick."

I'm sorry man. For you, him and Oxiclean.

Screw Micheal Jackson, I listen to Billy talking about Oxiclean instead.

You know, now that I think about it, it sounds better. :S

I went and created a group on face book, then immediatly felt like a fool cuz I found out that I was 6th person to have the same idea. Even had the exact same group name. Silly me thinking that I could be Original. Anyway heres a link

Well, the reason Billy Mays hit me harder than MJ's is simple. MJ has been on a decline since the late 80's early 90's and honestly he's been more or less dead to me for well over a decade. There's a distinct difference between black and white Michael, and not just the skin color.

However, I am incredibly sad about Billy Mays' death. I honestly had hoped to meet the guy at some point. Plus, I love the show Pitchmen, and now it just won't be the same. Not to mention the parodies on youtube that I love watching.

It makes me wonder though. Will we now see a lot more commercials with Anthony Sullivan? Or will there be someone else to take the throne of direct response TV ads? Billy Mays dying feels very similar than when Don Lofontaine (movie trailer voice guy) died. Movie trailers won't be the same, and neither will product ads.

I've never met Billy Mays myself, but I agree that it was way more of a blow to me than Michael Jackon's death. When I heard about Michael Jackson, I was just like "Oh, okay." But when I heard about Billy Mays, I refused to believe it until I looked up several sources to confirm it, and then I felt sad. I remember the first time I ever saw an OxiClean commercial so many years ago. I couldn't look away; Billy simply oozed charisma and had that oh-so-mesmerizing beard. Needless to say, he will be very missed.

i miss him too. it was nice to turn the TV on and let him into my house. best infomercials ever.

  10. Gillespie says:

I remember making a comic with him in it. I didn't make him look bad or anything, it just sorta bums me in the same way that you're feeling. Things have changed :(

A lot of people I know didn't really care for him, but he didn't get on my nerves. Probably because I don't watch much tv. Well, here's a R.I.P to him.

  11. SunnyKatt says:

Yeah, screw MJ. Billy's death was much more sad. :(

  12. Willdood says:

  14. Lasereater says:

Billy Mays was the man. How ironic, because me and my friends had been joking about him the day before. I was going to have a Billy Mays shaped birthday cake too :/. RIP Billy Mays

  15. ColdFusion says:

I still think Farrah Fawcett meant more than the others, but that might just be the boobies talking.

  16. Laura says:

I was so sad to hear that Billy died. To Burnt Lama, he died from a heart attack in his sleep, the plane ride had nothing to do with it. He was such a good man and you could just tell how much he cared about people and making them happy and it was so obvious from watching even just one episode of Pitchmen. I actually saw a cartoon yesterday about Billy. He was up in heaven and all the angels were looking at their robes saying, "Wow! It did get these a lot whiter." Everyone can smile knowing he's up there keeping angel's clothes nice and white with his OxyClean.

  17. adina says:

    he was my hero. :l

and no one seemed to care

but i totally agree with you on that.

    way bugger than mj
