Cheesey Victory

GREAT NEWS! It seems that we have won the war against geometric indecency.  At least in Australia and New Zealand:

via reddit.  This employee notice doesn’t credit internetcomics nor webnetcomics nor all-you-guys-who-shared-that-comic (thank you!) as the impetus for the policy change, but we know.  We know we have their attention.  (Hi, them!)

Just look at the gorgeous coverage on the sandwich on the left, and shun his broken brother on the right, for he was born wrong.  He stands there overlapped, mouth agape but unable to speak.  The time of his kind is over.

Now is the time for the New Procedure.  You can almost picture taking every homogenous bite.  It’s okay now.

Everything will always forever be okay now.

Thank you to everyone who sent this link to me.

-Drew

    Pretty awesome.

  2. Yun says:

YES! Finally. No longer will that hideous overlap exist.

  3. YagerX says:

The lady who served me at a subway I went to a few weeks ago just slapped the cheese on haphazardously, and when she saw a sport was particularly thin, she grabed a handful and slapped it on =D

Not complaining since I get more cheese c:

  4. I was actually vacationing in Naples, Florida in April and had Subway. For whatever reason, the entire meal was so much better than in it here in Chicago, but also, I noticed him place the cheese on in the revised, staggered method.

Some people are just ahead of the curve.

    • Solace says:

This is because fast food people in chicago do not care.

Its just a sad fact. You ask whats good, you ask any question and you get stared at awkwardly.

I traveled to a rural area and went to a restaurant and a manager asked me how my meal was and what I thought about the restaurant. I was literally speechless. After 5 years in chicago the concept of someone caring was just for foreign to me all I could do was stutter several times and say it was ok.

I hold the belief that some of the worst human beings in the world work at chicago subways, but thats just how I feel.

A month ago, I congratulated some lady for a beautiful cheese coverage when I when in a Subway in Portland (since I'm from Quebec, Canada, that's like 2000 km just to avoid unnecessary dairy overlap… but it was worth it!). I was astonished that she did it on her own, and she didn't even heard of LeftHandedToons (I know, I asked, and urged her to go read it).

Looks like the word is finally getting out on an epic scale.

On another note: no Lost comic this week? Pleaaaaaaaaase, just one last Lost comic. I'll be eternally grapeful. And grateful, too.

Thrice have I received a sandwich with even dairy coverage. I have been sure to thank the past two personally for their ingenuity.

  7. Alex Wright says:

This is happening in Canada too. At least at the Subway I go to.

My last 2 subs have had appropriately tessellated cheese.

  8. I'm proud to be Australian. :)

Funny, I was actually thinking about the Open Letter to Subway comic today and I thought to myself that next time I buy Subway, I'll request for them to place the cheese slices THE CORRECT WAY. But now, it seems that in a few months, I won't need to ask!

  9. What a joyous day it is!

  10. Alexander says:

Since I live in New Zealand, I have literally marked my calendar for July 1. I shall tell you how delicious it tastes. The taste of geometric justice!

  11. Alyssa says:

Wowwww. No wonder so many people are moving to Australia.

  12. Sean says:

    Wooooooo!!!!!!

There's one place here in Auckland that has always tessellated their slices, and they have enjoyed me and my friends repeat business at least once a week for at least a year now. Even though there are 4 other closer Subways it's well worth the trip! The entire sub is perfect. It's amazing! I can't even explain how good a perfect sub is!

  13. I recently started working at a Subway, and I did this anyway. bwahaha.

  14. Jordan says:

I work at a Subway here in America, and we have yet to receive the new tesselation tips. I however, always strive to make all my subs the LHT way. Open question though: What's your guys' preference on the provolone? it's semicircular, so I don't know how you want it.

  15. mat says:

I don't like eating, so I don't get it. Wouldn't you want the illusion of more cheese the layers bring?

  16. samuel says:

@mat, they have it overlapping in order to hopefully ask for double cheese to cover the rest of the meat.

For at least three years in Brazil (where I live, and when I started to eat subway sammichs), they always placed the cheese the "staggered" way. We are so technically advanced than you.. tsc tsc

  26. Bill says:

Drew, I loved the cheese placement like it was… So once you could bit more, once less, and it was awesome, now you destroyed everything… I´m sad about it :(

    Democracy sucks !!!

  27. Tango says:

Reporting from Brazil, it is happening here too! It seems that coverage equality is a world wide phenomenon.

One step closer to world peace!

  32. Robert says:

Awesome :D However, all the Subways I visit use the "new procedure" and have been for some months. I thought they read the comic and went "Jesus Christ, why didn't we think of that!?"

  33. Kim Burman says:

I live in Australia, and I actually witnessed this the other day. My gf and I have a habit of saying, "Dear subway…" to each other whenever they start putting on the cheese. So when they started putting the cheese on this time, she blurted out, "OMG! DEAR SUBWAY!!!" and cracked up laughing. Luckily, the girl serving us knew exactly what we were referring to and laughed along.

  34. Erika says:

    I don't like cheese.
